What Is the First Shift Hockey Program?
First Shift is a six-week, beginner-friendly “learn-to-play” hockey program for children aged 6–10 who have never played organized hockey before.

Cost: Typically $299, which covers:

A full head-to-toe Bauer equipment set.

A Welcome Event where equipment fitting and “how to dress” instructions are provided. PCHA’s day is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 5th. at Tomken Arena, 2nd floor meeting room at 1pm.

Six weekly, one-hour on-ice sessions following a Hockey Canada curriculum. PCHA’s program days are held on Saturdays starting Oct. 18th. – Nov 22nd., at 2pm each Saturday.

Program Structure:

Small instructor-to-child ratios (e.g. 1 : 4), with groups capped at 30 to 45 participants based on local availability.

Fun, confidence-building approach using games, skill stations, skating, puck handling, shooting, and passing.

Transition Pathway: After completing First Shift, families are encouraged to continue via the “Second Shift” program.
